Polarisation

The UK tops the board in the Value Added Scoreboard published by the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.

Put simply, it measures a companies profit after all its costs have been subtracted.

UK's top 5 richest companies were (as usual) Royal Dutch Shell, BP, HSBC, Vodafone and The Royal Bank of Scotland.
Second place Germany, third place France. In fact 42 of the top 50 companies were from these three countries. Oh, and Switzerland of course.

Oh, and today was also announced that 1 in 3 children in the UK were living below the poverty line.

Well.

You don't get rich as a country by giving tax breaks to companies that feed children now do you?
